Hi
A good topic for discussion is roof removal. There are many different thoughts on complete roof off v roof flap, what do you carry out and why.
I think there is a place for both and will strive to carry out the right technique for the situation. I have found that at times we choose roof flap for the wrong reasons, sometimes to avoid glass management of the windshield (which yes is very valid) other reasons to save time (again a key drive for a casualty centered rescue) or its just what we always do? Some flap the roof or remove it with the tailgate still on, is this good or bad, personally i will remove it to reduce the weight and ease manual handling.
What if we need to perform in situ life saving airway management, can we achieve this will the A-post and windshield in the way as its left after a frontal flap?
I have come to find that a half front flap, flapping the roof from the rear side of the B-post is very effective, fewer cuts and pending the car type offers a good simple extrication route.
What do you all think? I think thats enough to get this discussion going!
